- Toppled cones, broken barricades, dirty or faded signs, or devices that are no longer retroreflective.
Why It Happens
- Traffic, wind, or the work displaced or damaged devices and they were not reset or replaced.
Why It Matters
- Damaged or non-retroreflective devices are hard to see, especially at night, and break the visual guidance.
How It Is Identified
- An inspection, particularly at night, finds displaced, damaged, or non-reflective devices.
How It Is Corrected
- Reset, clean, or replace the affected devices.
How It Can Be Prevented Upstream
- Build maintenance into the routine so displaced or damaged devices are corrected promptly.
