- Removal was rushed or deferred, or no removal checklist was used.
Why It Matters
- Stale devices confuse drivers and erode credibility, and an unrestored road is itself a hazard and often a permit breach.
How It Is Identified
- An inspection or the agency finds devices left up or the road not fully restored after completion.
How It Is Corrected
- Remove all temporary devices, restore markings and access, and do a final check.
How It Can Be Prevented Upstream
- Use a removal and restoration checklist and confirm the road is returned to normal at closeout.
