- Drivers cannot react to what they cannot see; night conditions raise work-zone risk sharply.
How It Is Identified
- A nighttime inspection finds low-visibility devices, signs, or lighting.
How It Is Corrected
- Clean or replace devices and signs for retroreflectivity and provide adequate, glare-controlled lighting.
How It Can Be Prevented Upstream
- Plan retroreflective devices and lighting for night work and inspect at night.
