Night work adds a visibility challenge on top of everything a daytime setup requires. This checklist confirms the devices, lighting, and apparel that make a nighttime work zone visible.

Device Visibility

Confirm signs and devices are retroreflective or otherwise visible at night.
Confirm the device layout is visible along the full length of the setup.
Confirm damaged or dirty devices that reduce night visibility are replaced.

Lighting

Confirm work-area lighting is adequate without creating glare for drivers.
Confirm flagger stations, if used, are lit.
Confirm lighting does not leave dark gaps along the transition or activity area.

Worker Visibility & Conditions

Confirm workers wear high-visibility apparel appropriate for night conditions.
Confirm the setup accounts for reduced visibility and driver reaction at night.
Confirm allowed night work hours from the permit are being followed.
